A blog is an excellent way to accomplish many things in your life. It’s fun and creative and possibly even profitable. It can increase your confidence, writing, and communication skills and best of all you can start one for little or no cost. Here are my ten reasons why you should start a blog.
1. Free expression
I think everyone needs an outlet for self-expression. Most of us that blog are known to be somewhat introverted. They say that blogging is one of the best tools for introverts and helps them give expression to their ideas.
Although you certainly don’t have to be an introvert to blog. Anyone can blog if they like to write. In this age of Social Media, almost everyone uses Facebook & Twitter to express themselves.
Why not take it a step further and start-up your very own blog?
2. Become known
Having a blog is an excellent way to attract readers and followers. There are millions of people using the internet. Many of them look to blogs for information and insight into a huge assortment of different topics.
If there is a particular subject or hobby that you are interested in why not share it with others. It is an excellent way to meet new people and even possibly become famous in the process.
3. Hone up those writing skills
They say the best way to become a better writer is just to write. You may have a novel sitting inside you waiting to get out. What better way to find out than to set up a blog and start writing.
Start that blog and then sit down and write about something every day, you can only get better.
4. Make some money
Yes, you can make money by blogging, I know right, why didn’t you just say that?
There is nothing as sweet as being able to sit at home and earn a living by doing something you love.
Of course, the money does not come over night it takes perseverance and hard work, but it can be done, and it has been done.
5. Blog to entertain, inspire and uplift others
There are so many ways to inform and educate people in this life. One way is through the written word. A large percentage of people surf the internet and read blogs for entertainment and education.
As of 2015, there were an estimated 76.5 million blogs which means there is a lot of knowledge available out there.
I hope this blog has encouraged you to take up blogging and show the world something new & interesting.
6. Create a more purposeful life
Imagine getting out of bed every day getting yourself a coffee and sitting down to write something interesting for your followers.
Or you can just spend the morning replying to comments and insights on your latest article. There is nothing like the rush you get when people show appreciation for your efforts.
Blogging will allow you to understand your perspective and possibly help you to discover who you are and whom you want to be. Blogging as a way to help and inspire others can make your life very rewarding.
7. Learn many new and exciting things
Most people know a few things about a few topics but nobody knows all that there is to know about everything.
In the process of writing your article and posting about it, you may need to do some research and find out missing pieces of information; this is how you learn and become more proficient in your understanding of certain topics.
Moreover, you may even become an expert in some areas, which will make your blog that much more attractive.
If you think that blogging is something for you, take a look at this article for some guidance on getting started.
8. Tell your story
A blog is an excellent way to show the world who you are. You can treat it like a journal and keep it private, or you can share it with the world.
Talk about your childhood, where you grew up, what your goals and dreams are, there is no limit to what you can write about.
9. Bring creativity into your life
Writing is a very creative outlet. I think everyone needs some creative expression, I know I do, and I have found that blogging helps to satisfy that need.
10. Build friendships
A blog is also an excellent way to build friendships. When you start communicating with people through your blog, it is amazing how many things you may have in common.
As well there are many groups for bloggers that encourage collaboration with each other and help you to get to know other bloggers with your same interests.
So as you can see it is a win-win situation.
Although there are many free blogging platforms, hosting your blog is not free. If you want to take it to the next level, I recommend SiteGround. I have two blogs running on it, I have never had any downtime, their support is excellent and it is a very low cost option.
If you are already a blogger drop a line in the comments and let us know what made you want to blog and your reasons for continuing to do so.
